A hundred metres of visibility in the Central Valley.
Sacramento to Bakersfield in a saved fog scenario, with the lowest forecast visibility at Fresno and hazards clustered through the central part of the route.
Saved example, not a current forecast.

The saved route
Seven forecast points follow Highway 99 through the Central Valley. The recorded example has light winds, temperatures from 2°C to 6°C and visibility that varies sharply between cities.
Hazards in the example
Six hazard entries appear at four locations: Modesto, Merced, Fresno and Tulare. They concern fog and low visibility; the numeric forecast reaches a minimum of 100 m at Fresno.
Along the route
Visibility is 3 km at Sacramento, 500 m at Modesto, 200 m at Merced and 150 m at Tulare. Bakersfield is 1.5 km. Those differences show why one city’s forecast cannot describe the whole drive.
Departure timing
Three departure summaries are saved. The marked recommendation is 4 hours 30 minutes after the original departure. Only the original timing includes weather at individual route points, so the later summary remains an estimate to recheck.
What to plan around
Check the lowest-visibility stretches before choosing a start time. Compare the current forecast for other departures; this saved example cannot establish when the fog will clear.
